A new day...

We arrive yesterday around noon and look what
we find...not only is the ridge beam up but we have
the beginnings of ceiling rafters.

This is totally exciting !!!
I know it must have been difficult to accomplish. All I can say is Thankyou to Richard, Mike, Eric, Lee, Ray and Shep. They did the impossible.

The second peak is ready...

Now to figure out how to connect the 2 peaks.
The machine in the foreground wasn't going to do the job. Apparently it couldn't be maneuvered into the correct position. Depending on it's position it wasn't close/high enough.

One peak is ready for the ridge beam...

We've gone with the cedar, although teak was given lots of consideration by Dianne.

Lee's Goofy...

We arrived one day to find this on one of our logs. Lee is quite the artist.

The next day Lee's brother Ray also had to sign the cartoon. What a shame that the next course of logs hid the drawing. We are trying to persuade them to do another, perhaps inside one of our closets!

It's exciting!

This dormer will open up the roof line of the master bedroom.

Okay, so it's just a wall. Still, this dormer was one of the modifications that Rick and I came up with, so it was fun to see it going up.

A day of rest AND then a day of rain...

It's up!

On Tuesday we finally got some good weather and work on the front dormer began. Here it sits waiting to be raised. Rick and I got to help!

Rick and I go back later (around 6 PM)

Well, there's been progress yet again! That's me looking out the Master Bedroom window!

So, we are finally at REAL TIME...

We've caught up on the construction and the pics you see now are "real time" as of yesterday!

The rains came...

Mother Nature sent us rain starting on Wednesday. Once again as we were accepting our last delivery from Lok N Log and it was very wet and cold. Everyone showed up, but as soon as the delivery was finished (windows, lumber, shingles etc) from 2 separate trucks the decision was made that no work could be done.

Again on Thursday it continued to rain and another day was lost. Well, our blue spruces needed the rain. And our backs needed a break from carrying buckets of water up from Andy's Creek, so it wasn't all bad.

Friday dawned cloudy, but good weather to work in. Our wonderful crew was back on the job!

The St. Regis River

At the river looking upstream

At the river looking down stream

A view looking out from our back deck.

A View to below...

Temporary plywood boards allow standing on the second floor and a view down through the rafters.

The Porch is taking shape

This is the front porch and will be 24 X 8. The railings and posts will be all logs.

Our 2 retaining walls

We have our well

We hit water at 78 Feet, soft water with good pressure at 12 gpm. We haven't tasted it yet, but we do have an underground spring out by Andy's Creek that has wonderful tasting water. We hope the water to the house is just as good!
